Are you also always in search of something fun to do on or around the time of your birthday? Some of Cape Town's biggest attractions are quite aware of this and have made finding something to do easy. You can do one activity or all of them, the choice is all yours.
Table Mountain
One of the seven wonders of the world Table Mountain offers some of the most beautiful views of Cape Town that you will ever experience.
How it works:
You can redeem your free cable car ride by presenting your ID at the Table Mountain kiosk any day in the calendar month of your birthday month. You will only be able to redeem your ticket in the same calendar month. So, if your birthday is the last day of March for example, be sure to redeem your ticket in the weeks prior to your birthday.
Cape Town Big Wheel
The London Eye might be a tad too far for most people, but The Cape Town Big Wheel is a brilliant option, and it offers 360-degree views of our beautiful mother city. Some of these views include - Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Town Stadium, and the stunning Paarl Mountain range. All the cabins are enclosed and are moderately air conditioned. This wheel promises to be an experience not to be missed.
How it works:
To claim your birthday voucher, complete the birthday form on the Cape Town Big Wheel official website. In the month of your birthday, you will then receive your voucher via email. This voucher will be valid for 30 days only, so be sure to take it along on the day. Ensure that your voucher has been printed and that you also have your ID with you as proof. Hand in both items at the ticket booth and Bob's your uncle you have a free ride.
Sky Hi Ride
For all the dare devils and adrenaline junkies out there - The Sky Hi Ride is just for you. First of its kind in Africa, it is located on the 28th floor of the Hotel sky and has the breath-taking views of Cape Town City bowl. With one drop this ride reaches up to 100km an hour and is about 4g's. This free fall experience guarantees to be nothing less than exhilarating.
How it works:
Sky Hi Ride offers candidates a free ride during the month of their birthday. All you need to do is present your ID when buying tickets, it is as easy as that.
Zeitz Mocca
Zeits Mocca, the museum of contemporary art in Africa is situated at the V&A Waterfront in the Silo District. This art museum if the biggest of its kind for African art and promises to encourage those creative juices to flow.
How it works:
You are able to gain free access during the whole month of your birthday. Present your ID at the ticket kiosk upon arrival and you will be able to enjoy a whole day of creativity and fun for free.
Two Oceans Aquarium
The Two Oceans Aquarium has remained a firm family favourite. Offering hours of learning disguised as fun and entertainment this fishy experience promises to have you coming back for more. You can explore the kelp forest, shark exhibit and penguin exhibit to mention a few. Should you become peckish during your day of exploration there is a Bootlegger Coffees on site you quench that thirst or take your hunger away.
How it works:
To gain free admission to the Aquarium you can claim this special birthday token on your birthday or 6 days thereafter. You will then gain free admission for the entire day. It is super easy to claim and all you need to do is, flash your ID at the ticket booth and your entrance is free.
Galileo
Galileo offers great movies in beautiful settings, with plenty opportunity for you to make memories with your friends and family. Not bound to one season Galilieo offers three forms of viewing, namely Royale, Picnic and Drive in during the winter seasons. Their Picnic and Drive in options offer you freebie options during the week of your birthday.
How it works:
During the week of your birthday (Monday - Sunday) you can claim free entry, blanket, and backrest from any picnic Galileo. Present your ID at the entrance and you can enter for free. The rest of your group will however need to pre-book online. Should your birthday be in winter, then do not fret. You will be able to claim a free snack combo at a drive in Galileo the week of your birthday.
